San Gwann were the better outfit during the whole 80 minutes by creating much more occasions than Qormi.
Following this match San Gwann are in fourth place on 19 points from nine games while Qormi are sixth on 13 points from same number of games.
The first two actions were created by San Gwann. Matthew Zammit was fouled outside the area and the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Brandon Mamo and Nicky Bickle served Aidon Borda in the area and Qormi keeper Neil Smart saved his close-range shot.
At the other end, Clayton Casha served Joshua Barbara with a cross from the left flank but he drove over the bar.
San Gwann opened the score in the 7th minute when Edward Camilleri released Bickle on the right flank who, after entering the area, was tripped and Nickolai Muscat made no mistake from the resultant penalty.
The reaction by Qormi after this early setback was very immediate as they mounted three actions. Karl Sciortino released Ryan De Giorgio on the right flank who crossed to Clint Barbara for the latter to head wide from inside the area.
Clint Barbara was then fouled just outside the area and from Hoshua Barbara’s free kick the ball was deflected to a corner.
Then they were denied by the woodwork when the ball hit the base of the upright from a shot by Degiorgio with Saints keeper Liam Farr beaten.
Qormi equalised in the first minute of added time when Degiorgio dribbled past two opponents on the right flank, crossed to Gilmour Azzopardi who scored from inside the area.
The first action after the resumption came from San Gwann. Dylan Rayner served Bickle with a cross from the right but he drove out from inside the area.
At the other end, Degiorgio dribbled past an opponent outside the area and the ball missed the upright by inches from his shot.
San Gwann re-established their slender lead in the 48th minute when Isaac McCarthy dribbled past an opponent on the right flank who then served Borda with a cross for the latter to score with a header from inside the area.
In another action by San Gwann minutes later, Nickolai Muscat dribbled past an opponent on the left flank but Smart saved his shot from outside the area.
In an action by Qormi, Degiorgio was fouled on the left flank and Farr was forced to dive and save the free kick by Joshua Barbara.
The score became 3-1 in the 68th minute when McCarthy crossed to Borda in the area who scored with a low shot obtaining a personal brace and his side’s third goal.
Qormi then created the last action before the end when Degiorgio served Azzopardi in the area and Farr foiled him with a timely sortie.
